This article resolves distribution failures within the GhostPractice platform.
When distributing statements in Dye & Durham South Africa’s GhostPractice platform, users may occasionally encounter distribution failures due to restricted printer access. These issues are common when printer configurations or user permissions are incorrectly set. This article outlines clear steps for assigning proper printer access and resolving distribution errors efficiently.
Understanding Statement Distribution Failures
Statement distribution failures in GhostPractice usually arise when users don't have the necessary access rights or access to the designated printer. This prevents the software from properly routing statements, which can disrupt workflow, hinder client communication, and compromise the overall efficiency of your legal practice.
Unflagging Affected Statements
- Open GhostPractice and navigate to the Statement Distribution Tab in the System Status module.
- Here, you’ll find a list of all client statements that failed to distribute. This includes both printing and emailing failures
- Statements should only be unflagged if the client is NOT to receive statements whatsoever.
Configuring Correct Printer Access
- Verify that the correct printer is installed and accessible on the machine where the statement run is initiated. Automated statement runs are triggered by the GhostPractice scheduler services on the server, but manual statement runs can be initiated from the user’s machine, provided they have the necessary privileges.
- Ensure the user has appropriate printer permissions within Windows and within GhostPractice.
- In the Practice Setup Module, make sure the statement printer is properly configured and appears in the drop-down menu (PrinterName).
- If you can select and successfully test print to the printer from within GhostPractice on the machine initiating the statement run, the statements will be successfully distributed if they are flagged for printing.
3. Restart the GhostPractice Scheduler Service.
Retrying Statement Distribution
The system will attempt to redistribute the statements during the next day-end run, whether it is manually initiated by a user or automatically executed by the server.
Prompt resolution of statement distribution failures ensures that your firm maintains accurate communication and efficient workflow. By correctly managing printer permissions and handling flagged statements in GhostPractice, you uphold the reliability and efficiency that Dye & Durham South Africa is known for within the legal technology sector.
